  • Living It Up at the Goroka Festival, Papua New Guinea 5 months ago Surely you’re here for the photos? I hope so, since this is going to be mostly a photo post. But first: essential information. The Goroka Festival is an annual festival (in it’s 61st year in 2017.) It was begun by colonial administrators (known as Kiaps) from Australia. They wanted to showcase...
  • Breaking the Paradigm: Being 'Girly' and a Leader at the Office 5 months ago One of the best, and hardest, things about living in a foreign culture is that I am forced to face many of my culture’s paradigms. Recently I read a fantastic Op-Ed in the New York Times by Paulina Porizkova. I mulled over it for the next few months because it resonated deeply. Yet I wasn’t...
  • Why I Haven't Quit My Job to Travel Full Time (Yet) 6 months ago Either it’s the most recent zeitgeist, or I’m just running into the theme constantly because I follow a lot of travelers and travel photographers: quitting your job to travel full time seems like THE thing to do nowadays. Hi friends! This is Kate from the Curly Wanderer. The lovely staff at the Expats Blog tell me that there are apparently votes and stars and other exciting emojis for blogs that are helpful and well-liked. Maybe you could share a few of those with me. Or you could just leave me comments on the blog and let me know what you like. I'm prepping both more travel related content and life as a single-woman expat which I hope you enjoy, but feedback is always welcome. My ESP is broken.
