A pair of Brits living in Spain welcomed two homeless men into their flat this Christmas and are allowing them to stay there until after the new
year.

Twenty-one-year-olds Barcley Spicer Jenkins and Ed Lloyd have allowed two homeless men from the Czech Republic to stay in their house in Estepona over the two-week festive season while they visit family in the UK.

The Brits carried out their act of generosity after becoming friends with Roman Sikyta, 38, and Petr Spanel, 27, in the past few months. The Czechs, who said the gesture had “made their Christmas”, have found money and work hard to come by since walking almost 3,000kms from Pilsen in their homeland to Spain’s Costa del Sol.

Shortly after arriving in the resort town of Fuengirola several months ago, the pair were mugged, losing most of their money and possessions. With no luck finding work, they have been forced to pitch a tent on the beach in Estepona and have even resorted to building sandcastles in an attempt to earn some cash for food.

Petr explained that their plan was to have an amazing adventure in Spain, but things had not worked out like that and they were now getting hardly any money from tourists while, at the same time, the nights were getting colder.

However, one stormy evening, the Brits decided to invite them into their home, offering them dinner and a bed to sleep on for the night. Barcley explained that they got on so well and had since regularly invited them over for meals, to shower, sleep and wash their clothes.

Now the Czechs are enjoying two weeks of relative luxury as Barcley and Ed spend Christmas and New Year back home. In return, Petr and Roman revealed that they cooked up a Czech meal of pork escalopes and salad as well as a sumptuous apple strudel for dessert.
