A British expat has been arrested in Spain suspected of killing a German man he caught filming his daughter with a single punch.

Witnesses in the restaurant in the upmarket resort of Sotogrande where the incident occurred, said the man was 40-year-old Kainth Davinder. They claimed he grabbed an iPad out of Sandro Rottman’s hand and discovered pictures of his daughter on it before punching him.

Rottman, 43, was rushed to hospital but died soon after. Police said that he had been arrested in January for possessing child pornography.

The incident took place in The Spinnaker restaurant in the harbour area of the resort on Saturday night. Paramedics were called to the scene immediately and rushed Rottman to hospital but doctors could not save him.

A police source said they believed he died from a single punch but this was not conclusive as the post-mortem results had not been finalised.

Meanwhile, the restaurant owner said that the incident happened very quickly. He explained that the German patron seemed to be taking photos of everyone, not just the young girl. He noted that everything seemed quite innocent but the British man got very upset when he suspected the man was taking photos of his daughter and punched him before anyone could intervene.

An investigating magistrate is said to have launched an investigation but no charges have been laid as yet.
