Aberdeen-based independent financial advice firm A2+B Wealth is planning to target expat workers based overseas in the oil and gas industry.

The joint venture between accountancy firm Anderson, Anderson and Brown and Dundee-based Verus Chartered Financial Planners will use the specialist Platform One, designed specifically for the financial need of expats. According to A2+B’s wealth director, Jonathan Gibson, no other FAs in Aberdeen are targeting the niche.

Gibson sees the new venture as a chance to expand into providing financial planning services to oil and gas professionals who are legally resident in the UK but working abroad. The new partnership, he adds, will offer clients the tax-efficient Section 615 International Retirement Benefit Scheme, which allows saving into a UK pension whilst working abroad.

Gibosn explained that clients would be able to pay into a UK pension scheme, allowing them to invest more efficiently. It’s the UK Revenue’s way of keeping expats’ money in the country, he said.
