  • Cuba August, 2021: It's Not Funny 3 months ago This post was slated to be a synthesis of a game I call ‘Dodge the Russian.’ It’s what I’ve been playing since I began my re-entry quarantine, in a Varadero hotel teeming (to my COVID-19-traumatized mind) with hundreds of vacationing … Continue reading →
  • Unpacking the Protests in Cuba 4 months ago Recent events compel me to post sooner than I otherwise might. First, I’ve received so many questions, including in my professional capacity as a journalist, about what’s happening in Cuba that for efficiency’s sake, it’s easier to condense my thoughts … Continue reading →

As a 12 time visitor to La Isla since 1999 and having travelled from Vinales in the West to Santiago in the East, speaking the language and with a Cuban novia,I can say that Conner tells it as it is...warts and all but with a real love for los Cubanos and la cultura cubana. If you want to understand what every day life is really like in today's Cuba for the ordinary Cuban read this blog...and it is well written.
