As a 12 time visitor to La Isla since 1999 and having travelled from Vinales in the West to Santiago in the East, speaking the language and with a Cuban novia,I can say that Conner tells it as it is...warts and all but with a real love for los Cubanos and la cultura cubana. If you want to understand what every day life is really like in today's Cuba for the ordinary Cuban read this blog...and it is well written.
