I recently moved to Saudi Arabia and have been reading American Bedu Blog for about a year (in preparation for my move to KSA). I absolutely love the insight and the information contained in the blog. This blog has helped demystify alot of myths about life in Saudi Arabia and has enabled me to feel more comfortable in my new home.

I have been dating a Saudi for the past 3 years. As most women with Saudis know they don't go into detail about much. Bedu has given me a great insight into what life is like way over there inshallah I will go! Best wishes for Bedu and may God help heal her xo

I moved to Riyadh 2+years ago. I have read American Bedu as unbiased reference material prior to moving here, and as a point of information from the 'west' during my time in this media restricted environment. Also as a learning tool whilst trying to live in this diverse city, she gives an insight into the world beyond the veil. American Bedu's blog has become one of my most forwarded emails. Long may it continue x

I moved to KSA over a year ago, I have relied on American Bedu's blog for valuable insight and information about the people and country I now live in. Through her blog, I am constantly reminded to focus on the people I meet and work with rather than the politics and pecking order that occurs here. Her goal is to be a conduit, a bridge between cultures, and in my opinion, she is exactly that. Kudos and my continued thanks to the American Bedu!

Wow! What a blog. This blog gets 5 stars for endless riveting storytelling. I really appreciate how seriously this blogger takes her mission. She keeps posts coming to her blog even during her cancer treatments. I think Carol does a gigantic service to humanity here creating a civil, shared space where issues about Saudi are debated. This blog is OUTSTANDING!

I am essentially a lifelong expat and exenome, having lived and worked more than half of my life in Saudi Arabia - 27th year here. Although I see myself as somebody who can appreciate, sympathise, empathise and share the word of all manner of elements of Saudi life and culture, I feel that NOBODY does this better than American Bedu. I travel around the country a great deal myself, for both business and pleasure, and although I have seen and experienced many wonderful (and sometimes sad) things in my time, I have never been able to relay them to other people in the same simple and honest way that AB always manages to do. I understand and appreciate everything that she has written in her blog, and know that she really "get's it", and passes along her thoughts and feelings in a rare way that always carries me along. Her attitude of putting other people first, especially women in this male-dominated society, is inspiring - even for a male. Long Live American Bedu, Queen of the Expat Blogs in my eye

American Bedu blog is useful, informative, entertaining and personal. In a country where it is extremely difficult to get information, this blog is incredibly important to people who live in the country and to those outside of it. The author gives a unique perspective from someone who has travelled extensively and lived in a Saudi family. There is a large following of people who tune in every day to learn more about the kingdom and keep up with the Bedu. There are many excellent blogs from KSA, but this one is the best.

An Absolute Must Read for anyone considering moving to Saudi Arabia, or already living there who hasn't stumbled across American Bedu yet. Carol's writing is informative, entertaining, and heart-wrenching; she has a way of adding humour and compassion to cross-cultural situations that often turn frustration into laughter; learning experiences you can't resist sharing with family and friends at home, because no one says it better!

Carol has a mission to inform the world about modern culture, history and lifestyle in KSA. She believes passionately in a country that is trying to re-invent itself but is stumbling at times: but aren't we all?

American Bedu has been a lifesaver literally because I had information on what to expect when coming to live within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As I was coming directly from the United States and also living all over the world as well in some of the Other Middle East countries, there is nothing to compare to the Kingdom. Just the insights, tips, and what to do , where to visit and where to find needed items that can only be found in certain shops. A true life saver. If it werent for her tips I would be on some type of medication for nerves , stress and solitary confinement which Saudi Arabia can be, unless you do have the little tips and group get together's. Thank you...my sanity thanks you. Beth Wookil

Brilliant blog! Informative for not only those of us expats in Saudi Arabia, but also for people interested in a culture most will never have the opportunity to experience. Carol Fleming has created a phenomenon.

The blog is an invaluable information resource for anybody living in / moving to Saudi Arabia. The author highlights nearly all aspects of the life here on a current basis. Interestingly, she has diversified a lot, I mean, a lot. Kudos to her for her effort and patience.
