A horrific scenario in the Costa del Sol resort of Puerta de la Duquesa terrified expats and tourists as a maniac on a balcony displayed his bloodied victim.

Expats, tourists and residents watched in horror before fleeing in a panic as a half-naked maniac tied his bleeding victim to a balcony rail and threatened him. The as yet unidentified victim was dragged onto the balcony by his knife-wielding assailant, tied to the third-floor balcony’s rail and blindfolded with a towel. Tourists, local residents and expatriates took cover in nearby bars, screaming and looking upwards towards the balcony.

One British couple on holiday and staying in the same block of flats called local police and gave them their keys to help them access the apartment. An officer wearing full body armour managed to gain access and arrested the maniac, who’d thrown his knife and several mobile phones off the balcony. The victim, still unidentified, was seen with large volumes of blood running from his neck before he was rushed to a local hospital.

One expat bystander said she’d seen the victim around the area, adding he seemed to be a ‘nice guy’. Another unnamed expat told local media he thought the pair were Moroccans, with another witness saying the attacker seemed to be crazy as he was winking and smirking as police dragged him away. The local Guardia Civil haven’t yet commented on the case, nor have they released the names of the victim and his attacker.
