A new survey indicates that the vast majority of expats living and working in the UAE are proud to call the region home.

From career opportunities through cultural diversity to feelings of safety and security, the UAE would seem to offer an unparalleled life experience for expats. Recently released results of a survey conducted by Xpress Money have revealed expatriates are satisfied with almost every aspect of their lives in the region.

Out of the total of respondents, 70 per cent said they’d moved to the UAE to take advantage of its wide range of job opportunities, with a further 20 per cent stating they and their children had come with their spouses. Of the latter total, 16 per cent were women who felt the move had improved their quality of life and their feelings of security and safety.

In other sectors of the survey, 27 per cent were appreciative of their enhanced career opportunities as well as the region’s cultural diversity, and 25 per cent reported their quality of life had improved since the move. Of the respondents who’d left their families in the home country, 47 per cent replied that they were able to help their nearest and dearest overseas have a better life by sending remittances.

Interestingly, expats who’ve lived in the UAE for over 10 years and those who’ve been resident for less than five years shared the same feelings of satisfaction about their lifestyles, with all calling the emirates their home. The survey was conducted in order to measure the social cohesion of the UAE’s multi-cultural society, in addition to understanding what makes the region so popular with incomers.

A massive 7.8 million of its population are immigrants originally attracted by the vibrancy of its economy, its dynamism and its leaders’ visions for future years. According to the poll’s authors, this dynamism and planning for the future gives a real spur for expats to stay longer and be part of the country’s ongoing success story. Another bonus, it seems is the UAE’s competitive edge in attracting global talent to its businesses.
