A murder investigation has begun after a British expat couple were shot in their Benidorm villa however the issue is causing confusion in the world press.

Pater and Jean Tarsey who were both 77 years old were found dead at 4.15pm on 29 March at their villa in Xalo.

Guests who had come round the couple’s villa for dinner found them on their sofa, surrounded by bullet casing, and still locked in an embrace.

It was reported on Sky News that the computer had been thrown into the swimming pool, the television was missing and that police were treating it as homicide however the Spanish press were leaning towards a different possible scenario.

A Spanish paper said that, as no valuable objects appeared to be missing and the house was intact, violence and robbery should be ruled out. It was noted that there also were no signs of forced entry into the property.

The expat couple who lived in Spain for the past 18 years had no criminal history.

A small calibre gun which was shot several times is thought to be the murder weapon. As of yet, the post-mortem examinations have not been completed as the deaths only occurred very recently.
