A recent press release by ITV is set to warm the hearts of expats living in Europe and deprived until now of their favourite soaps.

The press release revealed that a new ITV channel, ITV Essentials, has been set up in order to allow expats and holidaymakers to keep up with the goings on in their favourite soaps. The service is being provided in partnership with Saffron Digital, specialists in the delivery and management of OTT solutions, and saw its launch earlier this week.

The channel can be watched in Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Gibraltar, Belgium, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Slovakia and the Netherlands, and will include Coronation Street and Emmerdale. According to an ITV spokesman, it’s a landmark deal and the company is thrilled to be able to deliver soaps and other favourites to expat fans living in so many different European countries.

The advertisement-free service will be by subscription at €5.49 per month and will initially be receivable by WiFi, but it’s hoped this will be augmented in the future. ITV Essentials is a feature in the company’s ongoing testing of new delivery models for content across new areas and multiple platforms.
