Expats across the world celebrate Christmas in their own ways, with Vietnam's community no exception.

Whatever religion is practised by expatriates the world over, Christmas is a time for getting together with friends and family at parties and celebrations. The multinational expatriate residents of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ruby Home’s 34 apartments are no exception as, for the past several years, a mini Christmas festival has been held, to which all are invited.

This year’s event was held in the residency’s front yard, decked out with Christmas decorations, balloons and colourful streamers. Many of the attendees wore colourful costumes and enjoyed games, dancing to music from across the world and generally having a wonderful time. Party goers gave their own Christmas messages in their own languages to their families and friends in the home country, sending their thoughts, their love and their wishes for a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Residents at the Ruby Home Vietnam’s apartments come in all expat shapes and sizes including professionals from Austria and Mexico as well as long-term residents from the USA, Japan, France, Australia and India. The leased-apartment accommodation is deservedly popular, and the multinational community gives a rare lesson in integration, especially at Christmastime. The owners ensure support is available 24/7, especially important for new arrivals who don’t speak the language and, for expats missing the neighbourhood feel of their hometown, this apartment block and its resident community seems to be the perfect solution.
