A court in Spain has sent nineteen-year-old Ryan Goodman to a juvenile detention centre pending trial, following his confession that his twin brother, Michael, had been accidentally killed during an argument near their home in February 2011.

Goodman told police that the two brothers had been arguing about a “stupid matter” as he pushed his twin against the door of their villa, in a rural town near Vallada, a popular town with UK expats. The boys lived there with their two sister, their mother and grandfather.

He said his brother Michael smashed his head on the door knob and dropped to the ground dead. Ryan admitted to dragging his body 10 yards from the villa and burying it below some undergrowth between the home and the main road inside a ditch.

The body lay hidden until April 2012 when a local discovered it while he was picking wild asparagus nearby. DNA testing later confirmed that it was Michael’s corpse. The teen had been formally reported missing in April 2011.

Ryan Goodman reportedly told the family that his brother had run away to the UK. However, after nearly two months of zero news, his mother filed a missing person report. Last week, Ryan Goodman appeared in court in the town of Xativa, when he told the judge that the ordeal had been an accident.
